SPEAKER_06Good afternoon, everybody is doing the moon. We back for another episode.
SPEAKER_07I don't know why I sit by my for another episode. Oh Lord, for another episode of Vin 101. Yeah. I'm going to go around the room and uh let the co-hosts introduce themselves and we'll get started.
SPEAKER_03Hello, everyone. I'm Pat. I'm just glad to be here once again. Amen. I'm always going to be happy to be in this studio with Vin 101. Amen. Thank you, Lord.
SPEAKER_00Well, good morning and good day to everybody out there on Podcast Land. This is Antoine. I hope everybody's been having a good day and good week so far.
SPEAKER_01And this is Rich. We want to welcome you back to VIN 101.
SPEAKER_07Hey, man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Oh, and I'm Karen. Yay!
SPEAKER_07Yeah. We want to thank you for joining us again, Karen. Thank you. And she has promised that she was going to return. Yes, huh? Yeah. So today's topic is on it's the stem off of our very first podcast called Surrendering to the Will of God. But this time we want to ask you, how much have we surrendered to the Lord? How much have we surrendered to God? Now it's true, family. God won't ever make us surrender because he gave us free will. But doing things our way just doesn't work. We can try all day if you want to, but things just fall apart. God knows that his way is best. He doesn't want us to miss out on all the great rewards or suffer the consequences of a disobedient life. Now, in the process, you can read, uh, check out Deuteronomy 28th chapter. It talks about uh what happens if you live a disobedient life as opposed to an obedient life in your spare time. Uh so why is it so hard to surrender to God? It's because our human nature wants that independence. We want to have, we want to take hold of the take hold of the reins or be in the driver's seat at all times. We crave control and want to shape our lives according to our own desires. Surrender requires us of letting go of our self-centeredness. It's all about a me mindset and having the belief in knowing that God gave us a purpose that is revealed by directing our steps, which can only be known when we surrender to him. God knows what's best for us, family. Surrendering our lives to God is where we'll find that real freedom and purpose. Sometimes believers find that surrendering to God can be a battle between our desires and leaning on the Lord's wisdom, which requires actively, actively, meaning all the time, choosing God's plans over our own. And the Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. But even with these clear instructions, family, surrendering to God still remains a continuous struggle for a lot of us as believers. Boy. And I'm gonna stop right there and let you all give, say what you all have.
SPEAKER_03You almost uh close it in, you close it up. Open it, close it up. Yeah, at the same time. For real, because when you we talked about in the last podcast, you know, like uh when you asked us about, you know, choosing your our um favorite topic or whatever, that's always gonna be my one right there. Surrendering. Um that's the foundation of it all, you know. And I talked about whether you you're uh saver or unsaved, you know. That's the first step is to surrender our desires and what we want to do. Because we can tell ourselves all we want to, you know, I can get it done, or you know, I can I'm gonna wait, or I can wait till it used to be a song that that really touched my heart. Uh I think the whiners was uh tomorrow. He promised you tomorrow. You better choose the Lord today. Uh yeah, and that really drove me to say, I I need to surrender this. You know, I I I know I can't save myself. I don't even have the power within myself. You know, how can I save myself? I can't even stop drinking. You know what I'm saying? And this and that. So uh that song really helped me along the way. Um but surrendering to God's will, first of all, we have to know his will. You know, and his desire for us, everybody, is to be saved and not to perish. This is a real life uh situation, y'all. Whether people want to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior or not, it's real. And we come, we're gonna come face to face with it after a while. So um I just want to kind of share that too. First of all, you got to know the will of the Father. What is his will, actually?
SPEAKER_07You want to say Karen? You want to say something?
SPEAKER_02Not right at the moment. Okay, you know, okay, I was thinking of something.
SPEAKER_00Well, what I have, I have a lot of notes on this one. And actually, it's kind of it hit different the second go round. It was over six years. It really did. I feel like six years, but it hit different this go around, and the key thing I know that we said on her, especially like back in the day, was always what you had told me that I could not stand for years upon years the let go and let God. And I'm like, I am, I did. I should get mad like I did. He must have done hear me this time. I was like, oh no, I think she was like, calm down. You must ain't did it, I can tell. Yeah. But just reflecting on that and then understanding what God's will means. Yeah, a lot of times, like back then, I didn't it I didn't I didn't space it out. What surrender means, then what God's will means. Meaning that it ain't got nothing to do with me, and if it's meant for me, I'm he gonna give it to me. Yes or not? So the thing is, a lot of times we getting away and we expected to be on at our time when we ready. Yeah and when we want it, or we may think we're ready, but the way we, the way this flesh goes, especially where the world is like, we want it now. We don't feel like waiting, don't feel like doing none of the above. But it means letting go of the personal control and trusting in his plan. Letting go and letting God. A lot of times, we say this on here a lot of times too. It'd be things a lot of times that we may want and we don't get them, like, man, why I don't have it, why I'm not getting it, but it may not be meant for you to have it. That's right. That's where the will part comes into this at. It says in um Luke chapter 22 and 42, um, this is what Jesus was speaking, saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not any, not my will, but thine be done. And in James 4 and 7, it states, submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And just rereading that and and thinking about this, that's where and actually I mentioned on the last podcast about the pruning aspect. Now, where I met opposed to back then, because we it's like we almost resurfacing or refacing this discussion.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Looking back and reflecting on it, and what I said last, the last podcast, there's been a lot of growth since then. And the more at first, again, a lot of times we view ourselves different than other people, but I didn't truly know that I had really surrendered myself to Christ who I did until other people start acting different around me. It was like, because I was a big cusser. Like people stopped cussing as much around. They stopped talking about certain things around. They start acting a little with, it's almost like a sign of respect. But when you are the kind of person I said that I've always been, I'm like, dude, you ain't gotta do all that. Like I'm still me. I'm still a I'm just I'm a Christian. I'm not the same way as I was before, but that don't mean you gotta be a certain way because I'm around. Be yourself. I'm not Christ. That's right, but Christianity.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00So you ain't gotta do all that. Be yourself. Yeah. Because the thing with me is it may be an opportunity that I can win you over or even give you insight on something that you maybe not have the wisdom or logic of wisdom on because a lot of times, as I said on here a lot of times too about the whole logic thing, I was really big on logic. If it didn't make sense and you can't prove it, don't even bring it to me. But how would there ever be miracles? How would these amazing things that God has done ever happen if it was set in stone that way? So that's where the uh the humility and actually understanding the contentment that comes along with humility and giving it to God and letting go. We have no control over nothing. Even though we try to plan set, another thing used to say, what was the case to say?
SPEAKER_07You want to human God make plans?
SPEAKER_00Bingo. And these are things that I grew up parent through in my life and didn't realize that those are gems you was dropping. Just didn't even realize it. But now that I reface the um going back over this, the surrendering to the will of God. For one, I was, I didn't know nothing about what we was discussing, man. I was just ad-libbing and I wasn't, I didn't take it really seriously. She knows that. If some rich do too, I didn't take it really seriously. No, I just time went on and I'm starting to study and grow, and I as I'm I'm surrendering myself and the guy, I start realizing the severeness behind this. When you're hearing people that as people are DMing me or saying, man, the podcast is good. I'm like, huh? Y'all looking? I didn't even know. And throughout the years, that started happening a lot, a lot. And people like, man, I see you, brother, keep doing it. And it's it's very humbling, man.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I've never, I personally never saw myself being on this path of whatever God has for me. So I always pray for his guidance and alignment to stay along with him. So that I'm doing what I'm supposed to do. Just like been on people saying, minister all the time and stuff, I didn't realize that a lot of the stuff that I've been doing are things that ministers actually do. We are not going to be able to do that. I just again, I don't see how others see me. And like even starting with the Bible studies, and when people reach out, I tell them, like, if you want to learn, let's do it.
SPEAKER_10Right.
SPEAKER_00Like, I'm about the life. Again, I'm all about saving souls, babe. I'm trying to give me some craft. I'm playing when I said, I'm trying to give some crowns. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what it's about. And I'm gonna stop working because I know I can be lying with it. This got me hyped, I ain't gonna lie. This just today. It's somebody today, I don't know what it is. But the one thing about it is the more you surrender to um to the Lord's will, the more you will see life differently, the less stress will be upon you, no anxiety will be able to exist because the calmness of the Lord will be taken over you.
SPEAKER_03Amen. Amen. That's true.
SPEAKER_01And I was just thinking about that right before you said that, how different life is on the other side of surrendering. Um I'm big on, well. Let me correct that. I used to be real big on business. Um and that has changed, you know, uh because of whose will I'm walking in now. When I was used to walking in my own will, and you see the outcome of that, uh, doing things within your own strength, um relying on self instead of you know, uh drawing strength from God, uh, consulting God about decisions, um just just just everything. Uh not sectioning off your life to where you allow God in some of it and not all of it. You know, uh when you when you mention God is the head of your life, not some of it, but all of it, your whole life, you know, but but now being in a place where you understand the difference, yes, you know, uh that it's not parts of your life that you blocking them out, you know. You you want them and look in those deep, dark, you know, uh pick up, pick up a blanket and see what's under that in my life, you know. Um and I was just thinking, uh as the word says, Psalms 37 and 4. Let me find delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. But on this side of it, what I understand is the desires of your heart is the ones that he placed there. Yes, yes, you know, and those are the only ones you should want anyway. That's right. Uh the desires that the Lord has placed in your heart. And and those are always gonna align with your will because God placed them there. And those are uh the ones that he wants to give you as the how he sees you. We'll never see ourselves as God see us, you know, through those uh holy eyes. He knew us before we was a spectre in our parents' eyes, you know. So and I just understand the difference being on this side, being a little more seasoned, you know, uh still got a nice ways to go, but like um I've been more getting in the service and not just going to church. Amen. You know, uh media team, uh men's ministry, working my way towards uh starting to train as a deacon. And one thing at our last banquet, we had one deaconess on the board. And she said, Brother Shaw, I'm gonna get up and you go get my seat. And as, you know, we I was helping to break down the banquet, she was like, Brother Shaw, you already walking in your deacon ministry, you know, and just those little slight encouragements where, like you say, people outside looking in, you like, man, I'm just trying to, you know, do the best I can with this walk. And and people, people notice those differences. But like I said, that's the difference in walking in your will versus surrendering to God's will. And those outcomes, if God is a part of them and leading them and guiding them, they're gonna be great outcomes. They're gonna be noticeable to the outside and not so much to you all the time. You know, it's gonna take for some people to point that growth out, you know, because man, if we can, if my thing is if in my walk, if I can move the needle just a little bit, you know, I'm better than I was yesterday. You know, um, surrendering ultimately says that I want those desires and I want to walk along the wheel that God has for me and not my own thing, you know, not my own uh dreams and aspirations. You know, I want those ones that God has already approved. That's right, you know, uh because we know if if He He provide the vision, He's gonna provide the provision.
SPEAKER_10So that's right.
SPEAKER_01Just just being just noticing uh a piece of your growth, you know, and that's where to your question about what have you surrendered, it it was it was all my dreams and aspirations, you know. Uh like I said a couple uh podcasts back, you know, I no longer desire the music as I once did. At one time it was, man, it was a green light. It was go, go, go, go, go, you know, and uh I've had my fun with that, but now I understand that wasn't God's will for me. His will for me is hey, what you done for me? Have you added any soul zone to the kingdom? You know, so like uh we talk about like like getting the crowns and and the rewards uh in heaven. Uh one of my bosses used to say, Shaw, you storing up treasures in heaven. You know, and I never really understood it, you know, and I've only heard him say that. I've never heard anybody else use that. And I come to find out it was it was it was biblical. You know, and um just just when you think about that part of surrender, I'm just excited about okay, what's next? Amen. You know, uh like you said, it you don't you don't get the anxiety and exhaustion that comes with trying to do everything in your own strength because of the promise. You know, you you know, you got a promise, you know, like those are the people who don't walk with them or or who are non-believers, what are what's your um what's your substance? What's your promise you have to hold on to? You know, and and and it's just better on this side, knowing that God has promised He's not a man that He should lie, He promised you this thing if you um surrender to Him. And that's how He Yahweh is not.
SPEAKER_07That's a blessing. Just seeing we ain't supposed to see the growth. You know that you've grown within your heart, but I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that God don't want us to see all that growth because we contend there's a lot of Christians that are believers that will get puffed up. You know, and and that's where we have to pray constantly, Lord, keep me humble while I grow. Because, like what you said, people don't want to cuss around you, uh, or they don't want to do or say this, that, or that or the other around you. It's the light that's in you, it's the God in you. It's not your shell. You I'm saying that for everybody, you know that. But it's the light that shines through us that shines so bright that we can light up a dark room.
SPEAKER_03Yes, that's what the light does. I want to read a scripture pertaining to what you said because that's what was hitting me too, as the work. I heard you, I kept hearing you saying, work doing. And so in the book of Pro uh Psalms, I mean, Psalms 40 and 8, uh, it says, I desire to do your will. Yes. And he this is King David talking. He says, My God, your law is within my heart. I heard you sit there and say that. And this is a whole thing about Surrendering to God, because when you look at surrendering to God's will, what it what it is, is making sacrifices daily to deny yourself of yourself. You know, and take on. I think you just read the scripture, what Jesus said. That's the Son of the Living God. And he said, uh, if it's your will, let this cup pass. But nevertheless, let your will be done. This is a daily walk, y'all, and it's I'm telling y'all, I'm not sitting here telling y'all it's easy because it's not. That's why I read in Luke 9 and 23, it says, take up your cross daily and follow me. It has to be daily. It has to be a daily sign of yourself, a denying of surrendering of yourself. Each day bring another light. Each day bring another darkness. Each day bring something. So we got to deal with ourselves today. It's a daily walk. And that's why a lot of people probably don't want to surrender because they feel like this is a hard way. No, when God is in it and his will is made perfect in your heart, it becomes easy. That's why you don't have that desire to curse, because you have that love of God, you have that will of God within your heart. That's what he places. I love how he said that. Put that together. And we got to do the work. Yeah. Because faith without works is dead. We got to start practicing on that thing daily. You know, I said, I don't want to do this, I don't want to fornicate no more. I had to I had to tell the man, look, if you say you love me, you got to marry me.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_03Because we ain't practicing this no more. And so that's where the surrendering was coming in. That's what he denying myself of, like he said, your your ambitions or your pleasures or whatever you have. And then you know God will come in so sweetly. You know, because he's just waiting on us. He's just waiting on us to just surrender. We make it hard for ourselves.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know a lot of things. Ooh, I've changed over the years, and I still got work to do. Oh my goodness. Yes, but I'm thankful that I did those things. And when you do those things, you also get rid of certain people too. Yes, ma'am. You have to. And I'm thankful for that. And I pray for those that I have got to get rid of.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, I want them to be to come with me too. Yes. I gotta go back to my son.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02And if it hadn't been for him.
SPEAKER_04Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I would feel like this.
SPEAKER_04Thank you, Jesus.
SPEAKER_02So I it all goes back to Kenny and put his trust in the Lord and showing me to have that.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02Thank you. I thank God. I thank the Lord. Because he never gives up on someone. That's right. That person gives up on themselves.
SPEAKER_07That's good. That's good. That's so good. Because it's never too late to surrender your life to God. Never too late. And there are some core benefits of surrender. I'm going to talk about a couple of them. You get true freedom. Letting Christ lead frees us from the exhaust exhausting burden of self-rule. Instead of carrying that guilt, fear, or pressure to be enough, surrender shifts the weight to someone stronger, which is God. We can give it to Him. Let go and let God. You get a deep peace from surrendering. Surrender quiets and soothes the internal struggles between what believers want and what we know is right. It replaces anxiety with the peace Jesus promised in John 14, 27 that says, I am leaving you a gift. The peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give you. So don't be troubled or afraid. Thank you, Jesus. That's right.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_07We can have that peace that uh thank you, Jesus. You have identity and worth. Surrenders uh anchors and uh the identity in Christ rather than having achievements, failures, or others' opinions. Believers gain a stable sense of worth that isn't shaken by circumstances.
SPEAKER_00Can I uh verse the go ahead? Go ahead. Um pertain to what I actually mentioned, what you just mentioned about our burdens and how what it says in the word about leaving our burdens at the uh Lord's feet. And once you actually, and the thing, and this just to throw this in there, once I actually truly understood that that's all you gotta do, man, it made life so much simpler. I'm like, dude, what I've been doing. I've been up through trouble, stressing myself. I wrote 798, I was weak. And he said, dude, give it to me. That's how you be telling me, look, boy, but then I tell you, just give it to me, quit trying to get in my way. Give it to me. I don't need you to drive for me. I taught you, you get over there. Let me drive. But in Matthew, it's Matthew chapter 11, um, 28 through 30 says, Come to me, all you who worry and burden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest in your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. So the thing is, just and this just encouraged those that that, especially beginners and new believers, that storm is gonna come. Yeah. The being uncomfort when we sell her light is what? Get used to it. Because the more that you're growing, the more the enemy is gonna try to do what he is here for, to kill and destroy.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So you have to expect that. But don't allow those different things that are gonna come at you to lead you astray or lead you in the wrong direction or detour your walk. Why? Because God said, give it to him. Yeah. So why take on those burdens when he said, I'm here to take them for you?
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_00And again, I'm I'm not the brightest, I'm not the slowest, but I felt slow when I'm like, man, hold on, it says that. Why not try it then? And once I did, huh, ain't nothing, that's true. My life is stress-free. I don't need no medicines or nothing. I'm cool. Amen. It's like the healing of that's that was a part of an anxiety that I had. And all throughout this studying to this again, anxiety kept coming up. And I had to realize that was something I gave to God, and I haven't had that issue in years. Thank you. Once I truly gave it to him, because at first I just prayed on it, but again, you could pray on things, but don't put no action into nothing. So you can't expect something. So once I actually did start altering and changing my life, he took that from me.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Just like there's been plenty of times I've told all kinds of stuff I've been through on in here, like even recently, where I just start giving it to him. Like if I feel a certain way, or for something going on, instead of holding on to it, I give it to him, leave it there, and I'm and leave it there and just keep moving forward.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Amen. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Oh, that's beautiful. There's a couple of reasons I want to go through, and then we'll have to close. Uh believers fear intimacy with God. Uh, there's some reasons that people don't want to surrender. I have to go over that because maybe you might notice that you're dealing with that unknowingly. Fear of intimacy with God, not the fear of God's commands, but fear of being close to Him. Some believers feel exposed when God gets too close.
SPEAKER_03Come on.
SPEAKER_07Intimacy requires vulnerability, and vulnerability feels dangerous to those that don't want to be exposed. But God, please know God knows what you're about anyway.
SPEAKER_00He made you.
SPEAKER_07He's God. But there's a lot of people that that play like they they they don't realize you can't fool God. Whether you're close to him or not, he knows you.
SPEAKER_02Yes, y'all.
SPEAKER_07And my prayer is that you get rid of that feeling and you ask God to uh to bring you closer to him. So whatever it is that you don't want him to know, he knows. Whatever he don't know, he knows already.
SPEAKER_02Like uh like when you do something, you say, Oh Lord, forgive me. Why did you do it in the first place? I didn't have to do it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, ain't that the truth? Yeah. Uh fear of being truly known. Surrender means letting God see the parts of us that we hide from everybody else.
SPEAKER_10Okay.
SPEAKER_07Some believers subconsciously think if God really knew me, He wouldn't, I just said it, he wouldn't want me. So some believers keep God at arm's length. But please, I'm gonna reiterate, God knows you already, so you might as well surrender. So you can be all you can be in Christ. Right.
SPEAKER_01Not the only guilt trip God.
SPEAKER_07I used to feel that way though. A lot of people. Yeah. I don't I man, uh, shame that makes surrender feel impossible. Shame whispers that you're unworthy. I used to feel that I was unworthy of closeness with God. Some believers may avoid surrendering because they feel too dirty, too broken, or too inconsistent. There is nothing that you can't do that makes God love you any less. No matter what you do, he's gonna love you. He's gonna love you.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_07A lot of people don't under, they don't understand that. And that's a trick of the enemy.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. That's right. When he says you won't be in every part of your life in the counter where everything truly means that. Whether you're mad, happy, sad, or indifferent. Come to him about it.
SPEAKER_07Yes, right. Fear of losing the version of God they prefer. Woo-hoo! Let me say that again. Fear of losing the version of God that you prefer.
SPEAKER_01That you prefer. Wow.
SPEAKER_07Tell the truth, shame the devil. Hey, many believers cling to a comfortable, predictable image of God. Surrender threatens that image and reveals a God who is bigger and more demanding than they even know. And you are cheating yourself out of so many blessings, so much uh relief of stress, and not just to everyday living, just going to sleep, having that peace that God can give you no matter what you're going through. If we surrender to God, he will give you that peace that surpasses our understanding. Man, I want to read uh fear of success in the kingdom. When I read this, that really that that's me. That was me. Fear of success in the kingdom or being afraid of what God might ask me to do. I can't want to. I don't want to.
SPEAKER_01Can't want to.
SPEAKER_07Pat used to say that all the time. I slowly want to.
SPEAKER_10I can't want to.
SPEAKER_07This is rarely discussed, family. Some believers fear that if they surrender, God will call us to do something we don't want to do, or don't think that we're capable to do it, or God can use them powerfully, and that responsibility terrifies me. Amen. That's me.
SPEAKER_01Me.
SPEAKER_07Ain't no way. Ain't nobody but God. Me, yes, called me to speak in this mic. Yes. Ain't no way I can do that. But God will give you the holy boldness because I know he's brought me through so much. How dare I not say how much he's blessed me to be a blessing to somebody?
unknownMan. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Who Jesus? Yeah. Thank you, Lord.
SPEAKER_01That fear of success in the kingdom.
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_01Because you fear what he might ask you to do.
SPEAKER_03That's right. Come on.
SPEAKER_01Boy. Ooh, man. I'm I'm I'm I'm so trying to break that one. That one, that one, that one's kind of scary to me, too.
SPEAKER_07Under them cupcoms.
SPEAKER_01Man. You don't see me getting it. Ooh, man.
SPEAKER_07We're gonna stop with that one. That's something that we all need to consider. I know I do. That's about the comfort zone. Yeah. Because it relies you to surrender to the will of God.
SPEAKER_03Ultimately. Get out of your familiar.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Total.
SPEAKER_07And then you be scared. Not scared. Well, yeah, scared that somebody might not. Ooh. That's was me. Ooh, we uh we do this podcast. What they gonna say? They gonna bring up my past. They know how I used to be.

SPEAKER_07But it and it's it's funny, but it's true.
SPEAKER_01It's true.

SPEAKER_10It's true.
SPEAKER_07Don't put yourself in that box. Come step out of that box. Let God continually use it. And if you get the name wrong, oh well, y'all know. Read it. It's 22.
