But today's topic is called the privilege and luxury of worshiping God in spirit and in truth. The privilege of worshiping God in spirit and in truth. Now, new believers often feel that worship matters, but don't always realize how much of a privilege it truly is. Now, here's a clear grounded way to understand it. It's not a duty you have to perform, but it's a gift you get to experience. The purpose of our worshiping is to glorify, honor, praise, and please God. Our worship must show our respect and loyalty to God, excuse me, for the grace he gives by providing us with the way to break free from those sins that we're in, that keep us caught up or bound. He wants our worship to come from a deep, humbled place and surrendered heart. James 4, 6 says that God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. And verse 10 says, humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up. Thank you, Jesus. Uh Jesus also says in John 4, 23, 24, John 4, 23, 24, but the time is coming indeed. It's here now, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way, for God is spirit. So those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. Hear this, family. That scripture doesn't say that we can worship God any way we want, but we must worship him in truth. The word must makes it absolute. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, family. There is no way we can worship God and be acceptable to him. The word must, according to the Webster's Dictionary, I had to go into detail for y'all, expresses that must is an obligation, a requirement, a necessity, a certainty, and something that must be done. When must is used, it means that there are no options. Worshiping God in spirit and in truth is a serious matter which can't be taken lightly. Now, me and the panel are uh uh for the teachers that are listening, the panel and I are gonna touch base on this. Yeah, I have to say it because I'm kind of ghetto. And I was raised by a teacher, so I heard my mama say, Joseph, still don't say me and the panel. Say the panel and I. Y'all know I ain't got the good sense. Because our souls are eternal, we have to strive to worship God with a pure, intentional heart and with honest obedience. Now I'm gonna give you, before I open it up to the panel, I'm gonna give you during my research, two people that really jumped out to me who worshiped Jesus were. The first one was Elizabeth, that she was Mary's cousin. And she was the first person to actually worship Jesus, uh, found in Luke 1, 39 through 45. Luke 1, 39 through 45. But the rest of the story you can read verses 26 through 56, uh, where you can read Mary's song also. It was beautiful. It says that when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Verse 42, and she says, exclaimed with a loud cry, Blessed are she said to Mary, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. You see, Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist, and she was old, too old to have a child, so she thought. But that's another story we'll tackle another time. But she was the first person to actually worship Jesus in the womb. So she was the first person to say, hey, hallelujah. Yeah. And the second one I found was the man born blind in John chapter 9. That really uh read the whole chapter in your spare time, family. Uh John chapter 9, the man who was born blind. Now, this man's condition was seen by many as punishment, but Jesus meant it for good. It was an opportunity for the power of God to be shown instead of punishment. John 9 3 said that it was uh so the works of God might be displayed in him. Jesus made mud with his saliva, placed it on the man's eyes, and told him to wash in the pool of siloem. Siloem. The man obeyed and he could see for the first time in his life. Now, when his neighbors and those who had been seeing him around, sitting around begging, uh, saw that his sight was restored, they asked him, How you he get healed? And he testified boldly, which is found in John 9:25. John 9 25. He said, One thing I do know. I was blind, but now I see. Thank you, Jesus. Now, proof of his faith and worship came after the man was put out of the synagogue. It was then uh that Jesus revealed himself as the Son of Man. And the man responded, Lord, I believed and worshiped him right there. Yeah, that was John 9:38. So those two jumped out at me, especially with Mary. Elizabeth saw Mary and Jesus jumped in her womb. Boy, that was that was off the chain. She knew right then that he was, she started worshiping Jesus in the womb. Father God, thank you, Lord. So I'm gonna open it up to you all uh on the panel, and those of you that are listening can join in with us. What y'all got?

Well, that's awesome. That's awesome. You said a whole whole bunch on that one. Amen. But thinking about uh the privilege of it, um it it uh it brought me to the point where you have to be transformed.

Not you know, uh, you know, because we're born in the natural and whatever, and Jesus said, you know, we must be born again. Uh in order to have that privilege, you have to be transformed to become believers, that experience that that the Holy Spirit empowers us.

And because the Holy Spirit, once we're transformed and giving our lives totally to God, I think you said something about that that surrendering to Him, then uh we we open up to the Holy Spirit that fills us, and that's our connection uh with worship to God. Uh and so we have to be transformed uh, first of all, that's that's what I want to say because you you read my my scripture. I'm sorry. No, no, no, no, no. I love that. I love that. Yeah, in John uh 4, 23 and 24, you read that. Yes. And you know, uh in the Old Testament, they would worship, you know, God uh, you know, on the mountains and different things like that. Um the story was about the woman at the well. And um she was like, Well, our forefathers, you know, did this. Y'all Jews, you know, this and that and other. And Jesus said, Uh you you don't even know who you're really talking to right now. You know what I'm saying? But wherever you are, it's not a it's not a location. That's why I want to get to. It's not in the mountains, in down the street, in the it's not even in the church. That's right. Worship is where your heart is in God. It's a place where you know, where we worship. It's a place because our heart's been transformed. Yes. We've been renewed, and now we have that privilege. You know, we have that right to worship God. And a lot of times people think you go to church on Sunday, and I don't have nothing against it, you know, because um that's what we do. You know, we gather together in corporate worship. And everybody's not on the same accord either when it comes to that. But um it's not it's not coming to the church on Sundays and raising your hand up and hooking them a shine. That's not the worship he's talking about. That's right. Worship has a lot to do with your servanthood. Who you who you have alliance with? Is this the holy God, the almighty, the only wise God, our savior, like Jude talked about, you know? And so, because you can, it's many gods. I read about it when Satan was telling Jesus, bow yourself down to me. This is mine. Yeah. And Jesus said, Wait, hold on, hold on. Hold on, no. No. I'm worship God and Him only. Yeah, yeah. And so, yeah, but uh it it's uh it's it's ooh, this is broad, yeah, yeah, about what worship is. But just know that you have the privilege when you have surrendered all your whole life to God. Amen.

Yep, um, I just want to start with the definition of the word privilege and the word privilege uh biblically because it's a little bit different than just looking up the general words.

Um biblically, privilege is understood as a special blessing, favor, or stewardship granted by God rather than merely an earned advantage. That's it. So, and the thing about um from the a lot of I got a lot of notes from this one. The the key focus is on the heart and the true knowledge of God. Yes it. Um, the meaning of worship and the the key part is worshiping in truth and in spirit. And because that's the only way to do it, you can't just have part of it or a piece of it. You got it, it has to be done that way, because why he says that and what my mom is founded on in John 4 23 and 24. Now, I have some meanings of down here the uh worship in spirit. Worship originates from within, from the heart rather than outward, guided by the Holy Spirit, and it's not limited to locations. Amen. The key thing, you can worship everywhere. That's what it's saying. You don't have to be in church or a temple or a certain building. You can worship anywhere. Now, worship and truth, meaning it's worshiping God-based truth of his word, the Bible. And in accordance with who he with who he revealed in Jesus. It is authentic, genuine, and not based on human logic or lies. Now, when you combine them, it's focused on a relationship based on reality, love, and depending, not obligation.

The key thing that I got from, well, again, I got a lot of notes on this one. But just to have the privilege to worship is a blessing in itself. That's the key. I know a lot of times, like this the song uh my boy did Lord of mercy just slip my worship. My worship is for real. Yeah, I was singing that on the way. Yeah, something that hit me when I was uh I was talking to somebody one of my friends about we was talking about the Lord, that's all we do talk about for the most part now. And they was talking about how like people were, I guess, shunning them or talking about them because they don't scream and shout in church. And they was like, why don't you do it? That means you don't really love the Lord or something like that. But I told them, I said, um, just because they're doing that, that's just an act and a show. This is when it comes to true worship, it's something that within it's not something to brag or boast on. It's not a certain way that you do um worship. Just like what he says in uh why the man's name can slip my name. Bless him. Well, anyway, what he says, my worship is for real. And then the song he said too much.

Exactly. And and on top of that, my worship is my way of worshiping. Everybody don't worship the same way. And that's what I told him. And it and at first, because they kind of when people was telling them that, it kind of discouraged them. They was like, Well, how do I not know if I'm worshiping right? And all these different things. And I told her, like, it's not a certain God made you your way. Your relationship with him is your relationship with him. How you worship him is your way. And it's like you said in the song, you may not know my worship. Yeah, it's my worship.

Your worship is your worship. Yeah. Don't try to figure it out. Because my worship is for real. Just right as long as it's for real. That's it. Because that song there is deep and it's more part of my rotation. I do not know why I can't think of the man's name right now. I'm looking right at him. It's in my daily rotation. That's my song too.

I want to uh state something that uh evangelist Billy Graham uh said too uh about worship. He said that worship is an occupation of the soul, of the soul with God Himself. And he said it does not necessarily include praying for your needs or giving thanksgiving for your blessings. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just bowing yourself before him. That's right. And and it's not like a you know, physically like bowing down, but we find ourselves doing that in worship sometimes. But bowing means surrendering. We can be standing straight up and bowing. Yep. Yeah.

And so that's I I just look, June went there with that worship, I'm telling you, because I did not know that that's what I was doing. Yeah. When I didn't even say a word, I can just stand there and think about it. You know, the awesomeness of God is on the heart. You can't worship something that you don't awe. You know what I'm saying? Because he's the create creator of the universe. And I'm like, God, you know, you turn night today. I'm 12 years old on the rooftop, not knowing that I was worshiping the Almighty, like wow, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was that I was here. I just saw the sun. Now the moon is out, and I can see a little star, so y'all know the city, everybody always. And I was like, yeah.

But that was worshiping. That's a form of worship. Because yeah, I'm expressing to him who he is.

It's about being in his presence. That's it. And it's funny that we're talking about this because last night, as I was reading, I was thinking about, like you said, it's not about the blessings, it's not about all the things that people want and what they think, you know what I'm saying? It's about being in his presence. You could be driving down a car and in his, you know, driving down the street in your car and in his presence. You're in the shower and you're in his presence. Yes, you know, I remember when I was a kid and my grandma was standing at that stove stirring a pot of oatmeal, and out of nowhere she said, Thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We thought she was crazy. Like, what is wrong? But she remembered a time when she used that same little pot of oatmeal to feed five kids and she only got one spoon. That's right. That's worship. That's right. You know what I'm saying? It's all about service and stewardship, all of those things are worship. People think it's just about the music that we listen to. No, it's about how do we get into his presence. You might be a skater and you like to skate, but you with God while you're doing this thing, that can be a form of worship. Like this is me and God. Anything you do with me and God, that is your worship. And like you said, my worship is for real, whatever that is, right? But I want to piggyback on something because it's funny that everybody hit um when you was talking about John, right? Yeah, and I'm thinking, like, why have I the one thing about the gospels when you're thinking about Matthew, Mark, and Luke, Luke, John, right? You like these stories always appear in other places. Yes. And one of my favorite stories about this was in Mark 8:22, uh 22 through 6. And I really dug deep into this because this man got healed. He was blind. Yeah, yeah. And this was in Beth Sedia, and the Lord took him outside of Beth Sedia to heal him. But what you didn't, I don't think you read it, it didn't show it in John, but it's in Mark, he spits. He spits you spit. Yeah, the saliva. Well, first of all, yeah, yeah, yeah. I got to really trust you to put on my eyes.

This is worship. I don't think Billy knew. I don't think he knew because he was blind. He said, What if he went up?

I could see him going far to God. Come on, but here's the thing. But here's my thing. Because he knew who God was. He knew who Jesus was, right? And it had been said that this man can heal me, right? Right. There are people in our own lives. I know in mine, I tell me and Sarah crack jokes at work all the time, and I say, if Pastor Bear had to heal me and she had to spit, I'm gonna accept that spit. I know that's it. But she is downloading from the Lord. But that story is so deep because what it didn't say in in um John that it says in Mark is that when he healed him the first time, this is the only time in the Bible that there was a two-part healing. Okay? The first time when the when Jesus healed him, he said, What do you see? He said, I see men walk in his tree. That's right. That's right. And that didn't mean he wasn't healed, but sometimes God has to heal our perception. What do we see? Yes, thank you. When he stayed and got that second touch, that was worship. Because he could have walked on and continued to see me and walk in his trees because he had some sight, right? But he stayed in God's presence to get the second touch. It was the only time in the Bible where there was a second touch, a two-part healing. That's a good thing. He still was healed, but he has to fix sometimes. God has to fix our. We talked about this in the first part in the first podcast. He's got to fix what we see.

It comes from the inner person of our spirits, right? Not just outward actions, family. Jesus touches this with worship. There is only lips and no heart. He touched base on it in Matthew 15, 8 through 9. Says, these people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain. Their teachings are merely human rules. Jesus intended for us to worship through the Holy Spirit who gives us inspiration and thankfulness that also gives us a deeper sense of who God is. There's so many people that are in these churches that are Hashimakai, what you call it? I don't know how to say stuff. And it ain't no went no farther than the ceiling. Yeah.

But we when you make worship personal, come on. That's what it is. Then you get to really understand the goodness of God. I know my granddaughter, when she at my place, I know she used to me. I just howl off and say, Thank you, Lord. Because like what you said, your grandmother. I just get to thinking how I couldn't say thank you, Lord, at one time. It was just in my mind. I couldn't say people who can't say it. It's just in your heart.

It's such a blessing to be able to know better and to know what worship truly is. That's why this podcast, this particular topic, came to me, and I hadn't even talked to you. And I'm like, Lord, because that's when I'm going through a reset, and the Lord, you gotta rely on me. Because normally I talk to the people, talk to whoever I interview or whoever's coming in the studio for the first time just to get a gist of how they are, you know, uh, because I know you from church, but I don't know you, but now I can say we got so much in common. But I had to rely on Jesus, on the Holy Spirit to give me this topic. That's when I said, Lord, he said, just worship me. Yeah, BB worships me do her book, it's all worship in there. The healing and the worship. So that's boy, when you connect, have a true connection with the Holy Spirit inside, because I feel bad for people that really haven't learned to worship him in spirit and in truth. Yes. You gotta be true to yourself, family. If you don't know Jesus in the pardon of your sins for real, stop playing games. Don't get played by the enemy. We have to continue to worship God.

And be real about that. Yeah, go ahead. Can I say something? Um on our last podcast, you know, uh, BB, you were talking, um, and I was just listening to you. You was actually almost everything you were saying, it was about worship. Yeah. Because you talked about, you know, your uh real estate company, ministry, you're worshiping God. Yes. You talked about how you sit down with the people in honesty and truth. That's worship because you honor who he is. When you talked about, you know, just different, you know, different things, like you talked about Shadrach, Meshach, and Billigal. It's knowing that God can do it. It's knowing, and and that's what makes you worship him more because even though they headed to the fire, they said, if he don't deliver me, you said that in the last part. Didn't you say it? Absolutely. If they don't, if he don't deliver, I will steal. I you said I know he's able. That's the word of the Lord. Knowing this is what I'm what I keep saying, this is how we know within us that this is God. You talked about his presence too. And that's what worship is, knowing that his presence is there. Sharach, Meshach, and Billy Got knew that God's presence was going to be with them. Even after, even after if they died in the fire. Eternal. God is who he is. And so that's, you know, I I want to bring that up too. Because I thought it was a a real good uh statement that you made on the last podcast.

Um and one of the things I often say to God before I talk with people, uh, whether I say it to myself or say it out loud, is Lord, you know, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight. You know why? Because too often we can show up as us. Show up. You know what I'm saying? And and so, you know, God has had to tell me many a times, you know, it's a difference between having permission and participation. You see what I'm saying? We some people just want you to be present to hear what they have to say, and we be thinking that they're giving us permission to just open our mouths. Yes, you know what I'm saying? But sometimes that worship is just being present. That's right. You know, God's presence in you, your light, it's not underneath that ball to be shining, right? Yeah, yeah. The presence of God being there so that these people can find healing, and they're not gonna always be a safe person that we're dealing with. They have to be able to see our light in order to understand what worship is. Yes, yes, and that we're not perfect, even in our worship. That's right. We're not perfect, never will be, yeah. Until we close our eyes. We draw more people to God in worship when they see that you know, June ain't perfect, you know, B ain't perfect, you know, but she's still trying. And I always say, when you say I'm making Jesus my choice, you keep trying to make Jesus your choice. And then one day you don't have to keep, you don't have to say it. Jesus will be your choice. Yeah, you won't have to say it. But if you keep reminding yourself trying to make Jesus my choice, that means I'm gonna mess up because the Bible said that we're gonna we're gonna fall. Yeah, but we get back up and get back in line. We say a righteous man fall what seven times, but you get back up and get back in line.

That's that's the gift. We have to uh let especially the new believers and non-believers that to know that you're going to fall. You're never gonna know everything. You're not. But I, you know, sometimes I'm like, boy, I admire people that can uh remember scriptures, you know. But my brain ain't equipped for all that. I pray, you know, that I am able to, I know more than I thought I know. Thought I knew. Uh my son says that all the time. I didn't know I knew that until he came out of my mind. But the Holy Spirit chooses it too. He shows up. That's what I'm getting. Because we know don't let it be gotta be a scholar. Yes, you do. Yeah, don't let it uh make you uncomfortable or think you don't know enough. Uh, I'm talking to new believers because you can look at somebody else and say, boy, they got all that knowledge. Yeah, but how long have they been walking in Christ? You know, and there are certain people that have have been walking in Christ for 40 years and can't don't know nothing.

But what's the point of having all the knowledge if your life don't have the fruit?

That's what I'm saying. Yes, man. So Pastor Bell said, just grab one scripture. You can hold on to the fruit. She said that Jesus was the one scripture. You know, a lot of us learned the 23rd of Psalms growing up. That was the thing that we knew. We can read it back and forth. Just grab one piece out of it if you need to and just hold you through. I always say one thing about uh that I've desired of the Lord, and that will I seek after. If I gotta say that every day. Because I'm trying, Lord, I'm trying, but that is our worship.

Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I want to say something on that truth part too. I really love that. God is spirit, and they that worship him must, you she kept reiterating that, right? Must worship him in spirit and in truth. And when I thought about the truth part, I thought about how tradition of men keep us uh not worshiping God in a true sense. Because uh the truth of the matter is you don't have to go through these rituals. You don't have to, you know, do this is June. And you said it. No, I'm serious. We don't have to do that. The truth is that you worship God because it's there in your heart to do. Yes. Not going through all this, I don't know what I don't know. But you know how they do. I think it's you know, rituals and and then these falsehoods about things because I'm still thinking about John, you know, uh in the fourth chapter where all these rituals, you know, y'all worship God, you went in there and got sticks or whatever, y'all did the candles or whatever you did, kill the calves and the lambs or whatever. Okay, rituals. You you're worshiping God, you know, in that sense. And then Jesus said, Here, you don't have to do that stuff.

When I when I gave my life and I said it is finished, the what the tent the thing was rent into. So you gave He gave us access to go to the Father and worship, praise Him, prayer, everything else. That's so blessing of it. So traditions get in the way of our true worship to God. Even though we love him, but you know, we just you you said it. We can be in church or around the church for so long and don't have true worship. That's right. It's sad. Be fake in the font. Be f Tradition.

Just like with so people that I've been uh that I've been doing Bible studies with, and that's where it did come to me. I didn't for one even be having Bible study, never thought or saw that much mom was too. I didn't realize I had as much wisdom of the word as I did. And it started coming out naturally. If the Holy Spirit wasn't inside of us, dwelling, yes, we wouldn't be able to have knowledge or grow. Correct me if I'm wrong. And being uh with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, the worship becomes more real. Um the Holy Spirit is what we have to have to be able to praise God. Am I right? You have to be able to have the Holy Spirit. So uh in order to have true worship, you have to take it seriously. You have to take it seriously. Uh read your scriptures daily. Uh worship beyond Sunday. We talked about that. Worship through obedience. Yeah. And stay teachable. I saw that. I'm like, man, stay teachable.

And then as you begin to talk to God and get in the word and have those relationships, your conversation will change too with God. But right now, just start where you are. Just be like, look, God, I don't even know what to do, man. Like, if that's the way you talk, then talk to him. Because that's what he's looking for, your presence. Yes, he's not looking for no performance. That's right. When you pray, it's like, God, look, God, I need you, God. You listen, you know we got these bills. God, if that's you, be you. That's right. Until he changes your language. Because he will change your language. He sure will.

Like a John Deere baby. He's gonna cut that high weed and he's gonna get you back on the path that you originally called for your life. Because there is a calling on everyone's life, but you don't know until you start talking to him, so he can give you the guidance to get to where he wants you to be. Amen. That's the truth.

They listen to us all the time, and it's an extreme risk level is extreme. Christians are convert, convert, converts are executed. And there is a list of uh I printed it out for the panel. There's a list of uh countries why it's deadly because North Korea is extreme, the risk level. Uh Bible possession equals execution, entire families will be punished. Yes, father. In Afghanistan, it's extreme. The converts are executed under the Taliban. Somalia, Libya, uh, Sudan. I have never heard of this place.

When I turned that shower on, because there was a time when I didn't have enough money to get my gas turned on. Yes. There was a time when I was out there in the streets. That's why I know God allowed me to go through certain things. We had to connect to electric, to have electric. You remember that? My next door neighbor, my god sister, we had extension cords. I didn't realize it then, but I was living in disobedience. But he brought us through that. Yeah, and for to have a child going through that, yeah, it's your testimony now. Yes, yeah, but you can't tell that from YouTube.
